Usually Wrong, who emerged as the top turf sprinter of the Lone Star Park meet that ends Sunday, is scheduled to make his next start at Del Mar, trainer Robertino Diodoro said on Friday.
Usually Wrong is being pointed for the Grade 3, $150,000 Green Flash Handicap on Aug. 30. The five-furlong race is part of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” program, with the winner earning a fees-paid berth into the BC Turf Sprint.
“You always dream big,” trainer Robertino Diodoro said. “It’s a ‘Win and You’re In’ race and of course, if he can run good in it, the Breeders’ Cup is right back there. So, he’d probably just stay out there. If it doesn’t work out, then he’ll be on the next bus back to Remington.”

Diodoro plans to have a division of horses this summer at Del Mar. He also will have a division at the Remington Park meet that opens Aug. 8.
Usually Wrong won both turf sprint stakes for his division this meet at Lone Star to improve his career record to 6 for 7. He’s 3 for 3 on the grass, and for his win last out in the $125,000 Grand Prairie Turf Sprint he earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 96.
Usually Wrong is a 4-year-old son of Lookin At Lucky who races for his co-breeder, Selman Shaby. He worked Friday morning at Lone Star, going a half-mile in 47.60 seconds, and will soon ship to Del Mar.
◗ Nobals, who won the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint in 2023, could come under consideration for the new $250,000 Great West Stakes at Remington Park, trainer Larry Rivelli said last month. The five-furlong turf race shares a card with the Oklahoma Derby on Sept. 28. Nobals is an earner of more than $1.7 million. He races for Patricia’s Hope LLC.
