Woodbine Mohawk Park was forced to cancel Saturday evening's card after six races due to inclement weather that caused poor visibility.
A pair of New Holland Series finals were to highlight Saturday's return of live racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park following a "March Break." The New Holland Trotting Series final was contested before the cancelation, while the New Holland Pacing Series final will now take place next Saturday (April 5). The Jackpot Hi-5 mandatory payout that was scheduled for tonight's last race will be rescheduled with details to come early next week.
New Rules and driver Trevor Henry converted off a two-hole trip behind heavy favorite Fashion Frenzie to take the $69,000 New Holland Trotting Series final. It was a table-turning performance for New Rules, who had finished in the runner-up spot behind Fashion Frenzie in both preliminary legs.
Fashion Frenzie cut the mile against his four rivals, setting easy fractions of 58 and 1:28 to lead into the lane. New Rules popped off the favorite's back and overtook him halfway down the lane. The eventual winner had to contest with a late push from Locatelli, holding on by a head in 1:56 3/5. Fashion Frenzie settled for third, while Truffles Too was fourth.
