Zayas has riding title wrapped up; will ride at Kentucky Downs

Jockey Edgard Zayas has wrapped up the riding title at the current Gulfstream meet.

Gulfstream leading rider Edgard Zayas will spend part of this final week of the Royal Palm meet at Kentucky Downs, but he has already wrapped up the title at Gulfstream.

Zayas had won 112 races from 442 mounts at the meet through Thursday, according to statistics from Equibase. Emisael Jaramillo ranks second in the standings with 87 wins from 371 starts.

The meet, which ends Sunday, started April 4.

Saffie Joseph Jr. will win the Royal Palm training title, as he handily leads the standings with 91 wins from 297 starters through Thursday. Joseph said Zayas would be riding horses for him this week at Kentucky Downs. The second-leading trainer at the meet is Jose D’Angelo with 41 wins from 219 starters, according to Equibase.

Moshe Mark leads the owner standings with 12 wins from 31 starts. Ken Ramsey and Vicente Stella Stables are tied for second with 11 wins heading into the final week of the meet.
