In 2019, Minnesota came close to becoming one of the first states to legalize sports betting when a bill that had cleared the Senate died in the House. Six years later, after several repeated attempts, another piece of legislation garnered the support of the state's gaming tribes, pro sports franchises, horse racetracks, and pull-tab operators.
Surely, this effort could not fail. Naturally, it did – again.
So it goes with one of the most promising and frustrating dominoes on the U.S. sports wagering board that's yet to fall. After 2025's disappointment, it's anyone's guess as to what can get this form of gambling across the goal line in Minnesota.
